FAQs 1: Can I change a school I selected through Self-Placement?
According to the GES, students can change the schools they selected through the self-placement portal. Yes. A candidate, who got placed in a school through self-placement, can change the school on the portal as long as that candidate has not enrolled in the school.
FAQs 2: Can a student change residential status or programme of study after placement?
No, you cannot change your residential status. This means, once you are given admission as a day student, you cannot change to boarding and vice versa.
No. A candidate usually gets placed into a particular school based on their preferred programme and the residential status they chose. A candidate competes for a slot in a particular school based on the preference provided. Therefore, neither the residential status nor the programme of study can be changed.

Yes students who want to change their programme from Secondary school programmes to TVET can make the switch but only if the is the chance after the automatic placement.

No. The Placement process ends once a candidate begins the admission process by going to the school to complete the relevant forms. Any movement from one school to another after enrolment is considered a transfer. A student can only transfer after one academic year.

No. candidates are not required to make any payment. Parents and students have been advised to report such schools and heads extorting money from parents to the GES and the Ministry of Education for action.
