GES calls on WAEC officials for ‘apor-free’ 2022 WASSCE

The Ghana Education Service as 2022 WASSCE candidates commence written papers for the national examination Monday, August 29, has urged WAEC officials, particularly supervisors to take measures to curb exam malpractice.

In a goodwill message to the final year Senior High School (SHS) students shared with AcademicWeek, the Education Service congratulated the about 422,883 candidates writing the exams for their hard work and fortitude so far.

“We also express our profound gratitude to all Teachers, Heads of SH/TS, Directors of Education, Parents / Guardians and all Stakeholders for the crucial roles they have played so far in preparing the candidates for the examination.

Management of GES has worked very closely with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations throughout the country,” the management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) stated.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) agency also said Regional/Metro/Municipal/District Directors, Supervisors and Invigilators are to take extra precautionary measures to ensure that this year’s examinations are malpractice free.

“Management of GES equally urges all candidates to be extra conscious of activities which will have the potential of undermining the integrity of the examinations,” the Godwill message signed by the spokeswoman for GES noted.

“Candidates should also be mindful of the misconduct during the exams which could lead to suspension and/or cancellation of results and the negative impact that development might have on their future prospects

Management stands by all the key players in the conduct of the examinations and urges all to work together to protect the integrity of the WASSCE. The management wishes all candidates good luck and success in their exams,” it added.

A total of 422,883 prospective candidates from 977 Senior High Schools (SHSs) will partake in the 2022 August/September WASSCE for School Candidates (Ghana-only version) at 775 examination centres across the country.

Out of the total number of candidates that registered for this academic year’s examination, some 203,753 are males and 219,130 females. The participating schools are made up of 673 public schools and 304 private schools.

The Ghana version of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examination which commenced on Monday, August 1 2022 with the Visual Art Project Work options will end on September 27 2022 with ICT Paper 3 Practical.
