GES cluster-based training for JHS Common Core Curriculum Date Out
The Ghana Education Service has announced dates for the JHS Common Core Curriculum training. In a letter copied to Ghanaeducation.org, the management of pre-tertiary education disclosed that it plans to roll out the new curriculum for JHS this academic year.
The Duration of the Training for JHS Common Core Curriculum
The 3-day cluster-based training for Junior High School teachers will take place from 12th-14th January 2022 and the venues are to be determined by at all Metro, Municipal, Directors of Education in each cluster. The training according to the GES will be non-residential.
In the wake of the introduction of the JHS Common Core Curriculum in 2020, teachers at various training centres boycotted the training citing improver treatment, issues pertaining to training allowances among others. This coupled with the surge in covid-19 cases led to the indefinite postponement of the training by GES.
The GES has directed all Visually Impaired Teachers to go to the training centres with Braile sheets and recorded to be able to participate fully I the workshop. It also called for support to be provided to Hearing Impaired Junior High School (JS) Teachers to enable them also benefit fully from the training.
Heads and School Improvement Support Offices (SISOs) have been urged to be present and participate in day one of the training on Wednesday 12th January 2022. The GES stated that the orientation to be held on day one will equip Heads and School Improvement Support Offices (SISOs) with the needed knowledge and guidelines on the CCP.

The GES called on all facilitators to observe covid-19 protocols.
