GES Commends Teachers as First Term Ends, Confirms Promotion Exams in December

Basic schools across Ghana have officially ended the first term of the 2025/2026 academic year, marking a major milestone for teachers and learners nationwide.
The Ghana Education Service has congratulated teachers and pupils for successfully completing what it described as a demanding but productive term. The Service praised the resilience, discipline, and commitment shown across classrooms despite prevailing challenges.
GES expressed deep appreciation to basic school teachers for their dedication and sacrifices, noting that their efforts continue to shape the future of the country. The Service described teachers as central to national development and encouraged them to remain steadfast in their duties.
The Education Service also commended the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department for the timely payment of CPD and Data Allowances. According to GES, the allowances were paid even before the promised 18th deadline, easing financial pressure on teachers during the term.
Teacher Promotion Exercise Ongoing
GES has confirmed that the 2025 teacher promotion exercise is currently underway nationwide. Index numbers have been sent via SMS to all shortlisted applicants who qualified for the next stage of the process.
In addition, the full list of shortlisted candidates has been forwarded to all District and Regional Education Directorates to ensure transparency and accessibility. Teachers who have not received SMS notifications have been advised to visit their respective district or regional offices for confirmation.

The Service announced that candidates applying for Principal Superintendent and Assistant Director II positions will write their aptitude test on December 29. Candidates for Assistant Director I and Deputy Director positions will sit their papers on December 30.
GES has assured candidates that a dedicated support team is available to address concerns related to the promotion process. Teachers facing challenges may reach the support desk via phone, WhatsApp, or email for immediate assistance.
