GES lists first-year SHS/TVET students national prospectus general items

Ahead of the release of the school placement of students who sat for 2024 BECE, Ghana Education Service (GES) has listed some general items students are expected to go along as they report to school on October 30, 2024.

Describing the general items as must-haves, the Ghana Education Service (GES) in a social media post sighted by GhanaEducation.org said that all personal items should be embossed or embroidered with the student’s name.

The first-year second-cycle school students according to the Ghan Education Service are required to buy items from one of the following groups (1, 2 and 3) which will be indicated on their school placement form.

General items for Day students

1. Mathematical set and calculator

2. Decent sandals (school-specific – no embellishment)

3. Decent sneakers (black or white)

4. 1 school bag

General items for Boarding students

1. Hard body suit or Trunk or chop box (Wooden/plastic)

2. Drinking cup, 1 plastic or stainless plate and a set of cutlery

3. Toiletries (1 deodorant, 1 pack of T-roll, toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, pomade and 2 packs of sanitary pads for girls)

4. Decent sandals (school-specific – no embellishment)

5. A pair of leather slippers (school-specific)

6. Decent sneakers (black or white)

7. 2 pairs of socks (school-specific)

8. 1 pyjamas/sleep wear

9. Underwear (5 pants and 3 vests for girls, 3 boxer shorts or pants and 3 singlets for boys)

10. 1 plastic bucket with cover and pail

11. RSV/NIV Bible/Quran and Hymn Book for Christians (School Specific)

12. Pillow covered with Mackintosh

13. 2 Students’ bedsheets with 2 pillow cases Plain white

14. 1 Blanket & Sleeping cloth

15. A Pair of Khaki Trousers

16. A Pair of White Trousers (or school-specific) White dress for ladies

17. 2 White Shirts (1 short sleeve and 1 long sleeve)

18. Student’s Size Mosquito Net

19. 1 School Bag

20. 1 Mathematical Set & Scientific Calculator

21. 2 Checked Dresses (where applicable)

22. Student Mattress (where not available in the school)

23. Shoe (School specific colour) Belt (School specific colour)

24. 1 Hoe/Cutlass
