GES Postpones 3rd Term Vacation for Public Basic Schools
GES Postpones 3rd Term Vacation for Public Basic Schools barely 24 hours to vacation.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has done the unthinkable again by postponing the third term vacation for Public Basic Schools by a day. The change in vacation date was communicated late on Wednesday 14th December, less than 24 hours for schools to vacate.
At the time of making the change in the new vacation date public, some public schools (primary sections) had already vacated, according to information sighted on the GES Facebook page after the announcement.
Teachers and school authorities have reacted and complained bitterly about the rather late update which has characterized the GES in recent times.
The GES gave the need for Primary Four (P4) pupils to write the National Standardised Test on Friday, 16th December 2022 as the reason for the late change in the vacation date for all public schools.
The possibility of schools and teachers not following the new directive is high given that, some have already planned to travel for the Yuletide on Friday 16th, and have scheduled to vacate today 15th of December 2022.
They have also called on the GES to be very proactive and to respect its staff while embracing effective time management, planning, and communication to ensure such late decisions and communications which disorganize schools and the personal lives of education staff of the GES are avoided entirely. In our earlier publication, Teachers react to GES’ late disrespectful update on new vacation date, we sampled the views of teachers on the late update.
