GES Reintroduces Parent Teacher Association (PTA) In Public Schools

  • GES reintroduces full functional PTAs in basic and second cylce schools.
  • New guidelines, accounting systems and others to be provided.

Accra, Ghana – July 17, 2026 – The Ghana Education Service (GES) has reintroduced the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) in all public basic and secondary schools, a decision detailed in a press release dated today.

According to the statement, the move was directed by the President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama, who approved the full “reinstatement of Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) in all pre-tertiary schools across the country.”

This decision marks a significant shift from the previous policy where public schools had Parent Associations (PAs), from which teachers were excluded. The relevance and effectiveness of these PAs were limited as a result of directives from the GES and the Ministry of Education.
