Ghana has been denied an education reform budget – MoE PRO

The Deputy Spokesman for the Education Ministry, after the Parliament, voted against the 2022 budget has said Ghanaians have been denied something that seeks to correct the wrongs of the 1987 education reform.

The rejection comes after the Majority from Parliament on Friday staged a walkout after a disagreement over a voice vote which did not go in their favour. The Speaker of Parliament, Bagbin thus dismissed the 2022 budget statement.

Reacting to the move, the Education Ministry spokesperson, Mr Yaw Opoku said “they have denied us a budget that seeks to give us what we missed out in our quest for independence in 1957. This is sad and a black Friday for Ghana

Well-meaning Ghanaians who dream of Ghana competing on the international stage on the development of human and capital resources must raise up and tell our honourable members to be Patriotic.

The political readjustment of the world means that those who are not sufficiently able, not sufficiently prepared, will be at the mercy of the organized classes for another 1 or 200 years as said by Marcus Garvey. Is that what we want?

We cannot be denied that readjustment from the missing links of 1957 and the total distraction of our educational system through the 1987 education reforms that we seek to correct through this budget but the entrenched political stands of some members seek to delay that adjustment.

Some members seek to deny the good people of Ghana state the art 21st century Junior High schools that seek to correct the missing link in our Junior High School System.

The NDC seeks to deny us the building of 5 new universities dedicated mainly to STEM. The NDC seeks to deny the good people of Ghana 12 State of the Art Technical and Vocational Educational Training Centers across the country.

They seek to deny us the building of 35 new STEM Senior High Schools in the country. Hohoe has been denied the construction of Physical infrastructure for the University of Health and Allied Sciences.

They seek to deny our educational institutions the supply and installation of educational equipment and training in basic science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in our schools.

The battle of the future, whether physical or mental, will be fought on scientific lines, and the people that are able to produce the highest development in the country will ultimately be counted among the committee of nations.”
