Ghana Education News Latest Update: John Mahama renovates Dormitory blocks for Ghana Senior High School (PICTURES)
Former president of Ghana John Dramani Mahama who is a former student of Ghana Senior High School (Ghanasco) has as part of his social responsibility gesture renovated Dormitory Blocks of the school.
In a post sighted by Ghanaeducation.org, the former president indicated that the Dormitory blocks that benefited from the renovation exercise were the Cabral, Lordina House and Gbanzaba Houses.
This was part of efforts to support Ghana Senior High School (Ghanasco) for its 60th-anniversary celebration. Mahama indicated that “Cabral House was my home during my days at Ghanasco, and it was a nostalgic feeling returning and reconnecting with some of my mates and seniors on Friday.”
The two dormitories were in a bad state prior to the decision to support the school to give them a facelift. Speaking at the handing over ceremony he said “Renovating and modernizing the building that houses the Cabral and Gbanzaba Houses, when the state of the structure was brought to my attention, is my hearty contribution to improving conditions for learning for our children.”
The renovation has been timely and will provide a more conducive accommodation for students of Ghana Senior High School as well as support the government’s effort towards improving infrastructure in secondary schools to support the Free SHS Policy.
The Girls Dormitory known as the Lordina Block was given a new look with the support of the first lady Lordina Mahama, who sponsored the repainting and replacement of the nets at the girls’ dormitory.
