Ghana to lose WAEC Headquarters status

Information availale to this portal is that Ghana will lose WAEC Headquarters status due to its rising unpaid debts owed it by the government of Ghana for the BECE and WASSCE examinations conducted on credit by the council. 

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is a non-profit-making organization established by an Act of Parliament in 1952. Its primary function is to conduct examinations in the West African countries of Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, and Liberia. The Council in Ghana is responsible to conduct Both the BECE and WASSCE.

Report coming from the mainstream media indicate that Ghana might Lose it status as the Headquarters of The council due to Unpaid Subscription to the Tune of 73 million Ghana cedis.


In recent times, the West Africa Examination Council in Ghana could not effectively execute task on schedule due to the allege unpaid monies from the Government of Ghana.


The recent period have also seen The council in Ghana conducting Exams in isolation from other Member countries.
This news came as no surprise to Some Ghanaian, as the council have always experience financial constraints in executing it mandates.
