Ghana Visa on Arrival for visitors announced, effective from Dec. 1
Ghana announces a visa on arrival for visitors, effective December 1, 2023. This is one of the new policies of the country, through the Ghana Tourism Authority.
The authorization of the Non-Pre-Approval Visa on Arrival for visitors coming to Ghana was approved by the government of Ghana.
Visitors entering the country from December 1 to January 15, 2024, will benefit from this new policy, which aims to bring in more tourists and visitors easily during the Christmas season.
This new pre-arrival waiver by the government is part of Ghana’s December in Ghana campaign. This is an extension of the 10-year “Beyond the Return” initiative.
According to a news release issued by the GTA, the visa-on-arrival programme intends to facilitate and promote higher arrivals to Ghana over the holiday season.
By simplifying the visa process, the government hopes to encourage more visitors throughout the holiday season to experience the unique cultural heritage, exciting events, and festivals.
This waiver contributes to Ghana’s status as a preferred destination for tourists and investors from the diaspora and beyond, which is in keeping with the goals of the “Beyond the Return” project. It aims to strengthen Ghana’s relations with the rest of the world while also giving chances for cultural interaction and economic prosperity.
The Ministry of Transport, in a letter issued to all airlines and signed by Hon. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, requested airlines to update their systems to reflect this new structure.
In welcoming the waiver, Ghana Tourism Authority CEO Akwasi Agyeman “encourages travellers to take advantage of this remarkable opportunity and be a part of the December in GH programme.”
December in GH has highlighted Ghana as the official holiday season destination, attracting many from varied backgrounds, and has been a clarion call for the worldwide African family to reconnect around our arts and culture since its start in 2019.
The campaign offers a distinctive calendar of events that includes activities that have been formally endorsed by the Ghana Tourism Authority via the Beyond the Return Steering Committee. It is one of the most anticipated calendars, as travellers arrange their trips around whatever events they intend to attend.
