Ghanaians Remember Ebony On 5th Death Anniversary

It’s been five years since the news broke that songstress Ebony passed away. She had died in an accident on the Kumasi Sunyani road while travelling to Accra.
The news which broke on Thursday, February 8, 2018, put the country in tears. Parents felt they have lost a daughter, her peers lost a sister and the industry lost a gem.
Today, to honour her memory Ghanaians have taken to social media to pay tributes to the talented late singer who served them with many hits.

Her March 2016 release, Kupe, was also a major hit in her native country.
The star was first discovered by musician and entrepreneur Bullet, a member of Ruff n Smooth, after she sent him a recording of her voice.
Fans took to Twitter to pay tribute to the young musician following news of her death.
One person wrote: “Ebony held us all spellbound. You didn’t have to like her craft. You didn’t have to adore her. You could just see her star shining. She was just meant for stardom & it was obvious. RIP Ebony Reigns. This hurts.”
Another posted: “So young, so pretty, so talented. I’m really having a hard time believing that this girl is gone she had so much potential #EbonyReigns.”

Ebony Reigns was born Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, affably known as Nana Heemaa (Oheema) by her close relatives, in Dansoman, a suburb of Accra. Her parents are Nana Poku Kwarteng and Beatrice Oppong Marthin. She was raised in the urban areas of Accra but hailed from the Brong Ahafo region.
Education
She started her basic education at Seven Great Princess Academy in Dansoman, Accra, followed by a high school education at Methodist Girls High School at Mamfe in the Akuapim North District of the Eastern Region, Ghana, though she did not graduate. She quit high school in pursuit of her music career.
Her death
Ebony Reigns was killed instantly in a traffic collision on 8 February 2018 whilst returning from Sunyani to Accra after a visit to her mother. Her assistant and longtime friend Franklina Yaa Nkansah Kuri and soldier Atsu Vondee were also killed in the fatal accident. The only survivor of the fatal crash was the driver named Phinehas, who resides at Teshie. She died eight days before her 21st birthday.
Her final funeral rites were held at the forecourt of the state house, Accra, and she was buried at Osu cemetery on Saturday, March 24, 2018. In preparation for the funeral, the late Ebony’s family received a lot of donations from prominent personalities, government and private institutions.
