GSS Census training in Accra, protocol list, other challenges take over process
Information reaching this portal indicates applicants who were invited by the Ghana Statistical Service as field officers (enumerators, supervisors) among others were left frustrated in Accra today.
This report is a sample of happenings from the Ga Central training/Final recruitment centre at the Odorgono School located at Awoshie, a suburb of Accra.
GSS Census training in Accra, protocol list, other challenges
The frustration is the result of what some of the applicants who had reported for training earlier today witnessed as an attempt to use a protocol list to kick out those invited.
A lady confessed to our reporter that in Ho (V/R), some GSS officials have been involved in taking the sum of GH¢350 before processing applicants and allowing them to undergo the training. We are, however, yet to independently verify this claim.
Most applicants were not called after the interview although they were successful with the registration.
Again, applicants who were not invited to be present for training but passed the interview reported at the training grounds only to find out their details on the list at the GSS training centre.
A trainee present at the centre claimed she received a call to attend the training even though she did not apply for the job, nor did she attend the interview. Some of the prospective applicants who did not get a call formerly for the training turned up today only to find out their names were present on the final list.
Some applicants who qualified for the GSS National Population Census training had their names removed from the list only to be replaced with others who are believed to be on the protocol list from one of the major political party bigwigs in the country
