Headmaster Allegedly ‘Chops’ Registration Fees of BECE Candidates, Fails To Register Them

Final year students Buduatta Basic school who are sitting for the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), were disappointed after they discovered that the headmaster of the school failed to register them.

The students could not find their index numbers at the examination centre where they were supposed to write their paper for today [Monday].

It was later discovered that the headmaster of the school, failed to register them.  The aggrieved students could not hold their tears and have vowed to deal with the headmaster. According to report, the headmaster allegedly squandered the registration fees of the students.

Some of them wept bitterly and said, ‘’we have prepared for the exams but we arrived only to discover that, our headmaster did not register us for the exams. This is painful and wickedness.’’

Some parents who spoke to the media threatened to take legal action the headmaster.

The Ghana Education Service is being called upon to investigate this matter.

The 2023 BECE has officially begun today, Monday, 7th August, 2023. A total of 600,714 candidates will sit for the 2023 BECE. Out of this number, 300,323 are males while 300,391 are females. 2137 examination centers will be used to the exams. 21027 Invigilators will be available for the 2023 BECE.

The Ashanti region has the most number of candidates writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), Followed by the Greater Accra Region.
