Help early childhood educators deliver – Dr Violet Makuku at the 2022 Africa Early Childhood Education Awards

Special Guest Of Honour Speech at the 2022 Africa Early Childhood Education Awards in Accra, the Dr Violet Makuku
She charged the organizers “The Transformational Empowerment & Rural Integration In African Foundation (TERIA) to maintain the constituency into the future to inspire personnel in the early childhood category within the education scope.
While delivering her speech as the Special Guest Of Honour Speech at the 2022 Africa Early Childhood Education Awards in Accra, the Dr Violet Makuku called on the government and other stakeholders to help early childhood educators deliver by providing both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation
According to her such award events and recognitions are “important extrinsic motivational factors which, when combined with their intrinsic drive, can make more and better things happen to our young children in schools.”
Dr. Violet Makuku, the Harmonization of African Higher Education Quality Assurance and Accreditation (HAQAA) Initiative Project Officer at the Association of African Universities (AAU) headquarters, Accra further eulogized preschool teachers for being the bedrocks of education and builders of the foundation upon which other educators build as the learner grows and progress in school.
“Today there is a lot of evidence that there are a lot of deficiencies in Africa’s secondary schools and university students, outstandingly in English grammar writing and spoken. This tells us a lot about the importance of a strong foundation that should be laid down during the early childhood education stages.” She said.

Dr. Violet Makuku was of the view that “once the children miss quality early childhood education, they are likely to face challenges in higher levels of learning.”
The importance of early childhood education cannot be underestimated, just as the educators in this sub-sector cannot be disrespected nor should their work be perceived are not important.
She charged “government, the NGOs and other key stakeholders to work together and support the schools and staff in these academic institutions, through all the possible means”
According to her, the collective efforts of stakeholders will ensure situations such as school drop-outs can be dealt with or eradicated if learners are offered the best learning experience in basic school.
