Let us get the steps for calculating a candidate’s aggregate score.
1. Identify the four core subjects (Maths, English, Integrated Science, and Social Studies)
2. Add up the grade you scored for the four core subjects.
3. Take a careful look at the Elective subjects thus (ICT, RME, PRE TECH, Gh. LANGUAGE, and FRENCH)
4. Choose two subjects out of these five in which you obtained the best grades. Yes only Two Subjects even if you had grade 1 in each of them
5. Add the total grade from the 4 core subjects and the 2 electives to get your BECE aggregate score.
How BECE Raw Score is Calculated
Note that for your raw score to be calculated, the actual scores you obtain out of 100 marks for each of the subjects will be considered. Thus, all the scores you obtain from the 4 core subjects and the best two Electives will be added to obtain your total raw score.

This total raw score will play a critical role in your school placement chances. If a candidate obtained better scores in the core papers, he or she stands a better chance of obtaining a higher raw score.
Do not believe the information below
No candidate should believe the information out there which suggests that WAEC will calculate your aggregate by choosing the best three core subjects and the best three Elective subjects. This is never true.
The truth is this: It is calculated using the raw scores of the 4 core subjects plus the best subjects from (ICT, RME, PRE TECH, Gh. LANGUAGE, and FRENCH).
