How I Made 8A’s And 6 Ones In My WASSCE And BECE – Number 3 Will Shock You
Passing your final examination is one thing that requires maximum effort and work. Here, I have gathered some tricks I used to gain 8A’s and 6 Ones in my WASSCE and BECE a few years ago.
What Is WASSCE and BECE Examination?
The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE) are organized by the West African Examination Council (WAEC). These two examinations are organized for final-year candidates in our respective Senior High and Junior High schools.
Mostly the WASSCE takes place from May to June every year and the BECE also continues from June to July but unfortunate and unforeseen circumstances happened in 2019 as the novel coronavirus interrupted the standard system. As the Ghana Education System (GES) and WAEC are doing everything to make 2024 WASSCE and BECE back to their regular schedule, this year’s WASSCE and BECE will be written from July to November.
How Do You Study Effectively Toward WASSCE and BECE?
Yes, the one question that all final-year students ask themselves is how they can study effectively to pass their final examination. Do well and take time with me as I take you through all the necessary and involving steps to study effectively.
A. Study to remember: Normally students just read notes but don’t make attempts to remember the idea behind what they read. You have to make a point to remember everything you read or study.
B. Abstain from ‘chew and pour’: The normal agenda all students know is the ‘chew and pour’ agenda. Well, it does help most at times, but truth be told, it is not the right thing to do. As seconds turn to minutes, minutes turn to hours, hours turn to days, days turn to weeks, weeks turn to months and months turn to years, the idea of Education changes. The theory part becomes less than the practical aspect.
I urge all students and especially final year candidates to learn to understand not just ‘chew and pour’.
C. Pray: Yes, prayer is the key. In all things, we start with prayer and end with prayer also. Make sure to cast all your examination fears to God. The more you pray and learn, the better your understanding and the quicker the Holy Spirit reminds you of what you have learned. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
How To Make 6 Ones And 8A’s In BECE And WASSCE?
Passing the BECE examination is what will journey you to get a better senior high school. If one fails he or she may get a low category based senior high school. Although it’s not the school that matters, the content of the school does.
Here, are the tips that can make you get 6 ones easily if and only if you follow them.
1. Prayer, Humbleness, Respect, and Self-Disciplined: Make sure to pray as I previously said. Yes, humbleness is also key to passing the BECE examination. Humble yourself to your teachers or your guardians. Make sure to respect them and do not go astray. Engage in-class assignments, ask questions in class, be interactive, and be lively as well.
The more you ask questions, the more you become familiar and abreast with what you learn. Be self-disciplined to the extent that you have the time to learn and the time to play well. Make sure that when it’s time to learn, take the book and STUDY! When it’s time for you to play, DO SO!
2. Solve Past Questions: Frankly, the BECE is the easiest examination to score 6 ones. Solve all the past questions you do have. For this year’s BECE make sure to solve past questions in the last 10 years, thus from 2012 to 2022. Make sure to get yourself to the trend of questions and how they do ask the questions. As you know, practice makes one perfect.
3. Restrict Yourself To The Syllabus: Most of the time, I see my friends learning stuff way-out of the required and given syllabus, which certainly didn’t go well for them in the final examinations.
Make sure that before you learn or revise any topic, you get yourself familiar with the OBJECTIVES stated. Make sure to study along that lane and I promise you, your 1 is secured and assured. Do not learn chaff, I repeat, do not learn chaff.
4. You Have Passed: Psych your brain that you will get 1 or even 2 when the results are released. Ignore the rants about that examiners do mark according to their mood swings or do check your names and all those mythical lies. The examiner marking your paper will score you if you answer it right otherwise.
Do not stress yourself that much. Make sure to psych your brain and tell yourself that this is one of our school (internal) examinations, but the only difference is the location where we are to write.
5. Form Study groups: Make sure to form study groups of even numbers not more than 6 members. Make sure you meet up at every scheduled time, solve questions, share ideas, and teach each other. The more you interact with your peers the more you become abreast with the subjects.
6. Use Mnemonics: Use ways of remembering things and that is through Mnemonics. The life cycle of a mosquito is Egg, Larva, Pupa, and Adult. Well, you can remember this life cycle through Mnemonics thus ELPA. Where the E stands for Egg, L for the Larva, P for the Pupa, and the A for the Adult.
If you follow the steps above well, I promise you that your one(1) is assured.
