How to get FREE Tertiary Scholarship after WASSCE – EduWatch

The Executive Director of Africa Education Watch (EduWatch), Mr Kofi Asare after his outfit received many unsolicited applications for free tertiary scholarship has disclosed a short way to enter any tertiary institution at no cost.

He in a post sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh said the Education Think Tank this academic year will not be able to sponsor the tertiary education of brilliant but needy Senior High School (SHS) graduates amid lack of budget.

“We have received many unsolicited applications for tertiary sponsorship. While we appreciate that many are genuinely needy, we do not have a budget for new scholarships this year,” the EduWatch Executive Director said on Monday.

Mr Asare however has suggested for final year SHS students seeking to continue their tertiary education through a scholarship to join the New Patriotic Party owned Free SHS Graduates Association in their region after writing WASSCE.

“Join the NPP-Free SHS Graduates Association in your region immediately after you complete your WASSCE if you want free tertiary scholarship The Head of the Scholarship Secretariat is a patron of that group,” the Director disclosed.

The Education Policy Analyst similarly encouraged brilliant but needy students to try their luck by visiting the Ghana Scholarship Secretariate website https://www.scholarshipgh.com and submitting applications.

In a related development, the Government of Ghana (GoG) has postponed the launch of the ‘No guarantor student loan policy’ previously scheduled to be held on Monday, December 20, 2021, at the KNUST School of Business

The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) who announced the suspension of the launch in a statement copied to EducationWeb.com.gh said a new date at the appropriate time will be communicated to the general public.

“We are very sorry to inform you that the official launch for the ‘No guarantor student loan policy’ has been postponed until further notice due to circumstances beyond our control,” the Students Union said in a press release last year.

The Deputy Spokesman for the Education Ministry following the ‘No guarantor policy’ launch has said the education system is about to witness another sensible reform that intends to acknowledge the constitutional rights of every child.

“The policy to be launched at a date yet to be communicated will afford the Free SHS graduates, especially, those from poor social-economic backgrounds access to higher education, Yaw Opoku Mensah told EducationWeb last year.

He added that “it would also expand access to tertiary education by increasing Ghana’s Tertiary Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) from the current 18.8% to 40% by 2030 as stated by the President in his State of Nation Address.”
