Ablekuma West District Education director has reacted to the circulations on social media where some teachers in his district were queried over failure to attend his thanks giving service.
In a letter sighted by ghanaeducation.org, the GES district director, made it clear that he wasn’t responsible for the letter circulating on social media. According to him, he didn’t initiate or write such letter. He is therefore urging those responsible to withdraw the query with immediate effect.

“My attention has been drawn to a query letter that is in circulation on social media as having been served some headteachers and teachers of some public basic schools within the Ablekuma West Municipal Education Directorate on the grounds that they failed to attend the Beginning of a New Academic Year Thanksgiving Service.
To the best of my knowledge, I have not ordered anybody to take such an action against any teacher on my behalf. Hence, I call on those behind the issuance of the query to withdraw it with immediate effect.” he wrote.
This comes after it was reported that over 20 teachers in Ablekuma West district have been queried over failure to attend thanksgiving service at the invitation of the district education director.
According the some teachers in the constituency, the director has been infringing on their rights in several ways for the past years.
The query form indicated that the teachers failed to close down their classes and attend the thanksgiving service as they were instructed to.

“Directive was given for schools to close down at 12:30 noon on the 12th October, 2023 to enable you to attend the Ablekuma West Education Directorate’s maiden thanksgiving service. Explain why you should not be queried for refusal to attend. Serve D.D Supervision, SISO and your Headteacher copies by close of Monday 16th October, 2023.”
