I pray I don’t die early so that I can see things: Humble prayer of Hon. Alban Bagbin

Speaker of Ghana Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has disclosed that it is his wish to live longer to be able to see things. According to Hon. Alban Bagbin, Speaker of parliament, his single prayer was to live longer so that he can see things. He did not indicate exactly the kind of things he wanted to see.
On the day, the minority did not have the numbers to meet the two-thirds vote requirement needed to pass the vote of censure against the none performing Finance Minister who has been blamed for failing to manage the economic choices, decisions, and the implications on the Ghanaian people and the economy.
The Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Alban Bagbin, narrated a story told him by a Senior Statesman.
He narrated “One of Senior statesman, I actually refer to him as an elder statesman told me a story that when they were in school, a gentleman used to visit them and whiles walking on the streets he would be repeating one statement and I quote “if we don’t die early we will see things’. I have been praying to God to allow me not to die early so that I can see things. I am not yet old, but I have started seeing things”
The Minority in parliament had filed a motion of censure seeking to remove the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta from his post. Ken had been accused of mismanagement of the economy, financial recklessness, conflict of interest, and gross mismanagement of the economy. This led to the setting up of an 8-member ad-hoc committee by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin. The committee was mandated to probe the motion brought against the Finance Minister and presented its report to Parliament on November 25, 2022.
The matter was debated at the plenary on Thursday and when it was time for voting, the Majority staged a walkout, rubbishing the allegations levelled against the Finance Minister.
The end result of all the hard work and processes is that the minority choose to skew their allegiances to their party instead of the people who voted for them, they decided to be absent at the voting which crippled the efforts of parliament and the people of Ghana
