Inauguration of digital repository at Wesley Girls High School

The Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has officially opened a cutting-edge digital repository at Wesley Girls Senior High School.
This repository, established in memory of Dr Bawumia’s late mother, Hajia Mariama Bawumia, an alumna of the school in 1960, is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to digitize and securely store the institution’s records.
The digital repository, a project funded by Dr. Bawumia with GHȼ300,000.00, is intended to securely store records of both current and former students and staff members. Through personalized access codes, individuals associated with the school will have confidential access to their personal information or general school data.
During the commissioning ceremony, Dr Bawumia expressed his appreciation to the Wesley Girls High School 1960 year group for initiating the project and offering condolences following his mother’s passing in 2021. He emphasized the importance of the digital repository for an institution with a history spanning over 187 years, highlighting its role in facilitating the quick retrieval of essential records for academic and administrative purposes.
The Vice President emphasized the transformative power of digital initiatives in education and encouraged other educational institutions to follow Wesley Girls’ lead. He reiterated the government’s dedication to promoting digital literacy among Ghanaian students, mentioning initiatives like free Wi-Fi in schools and the forthcoming distribution of laptops to Senior High School students.
Dr. Bawumia praised the Wesley Girls community for their dedication to excellence and their embrace of digital innovation. He expressed confidence in the repository’s impact, emphasizing its role in preserving the school’s rich history and supporting academic and professional growth for students.
