Ken Ofori Atta’s Removal Officially Announced; Here Is When The Finance Minister Would Be Sacked
Parliament’s Majority Caucus granted President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-request Addo’s for Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to finish IMF discussions.
After a late Tuesday discussion, the president and parliamentarians agreed to let the controversial Minister submit the 2023 Budget Statement later this month.
Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Majority Leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, said on October 26 that Ofori-Atta would be fired following these two instances.
As part of the accord with Akufo-Addo, MPs would approve the appropriation bill after the next budget.
After a group of 80 governing party legislators demanded the immediate expulsion of Ofori-Atta and another, citing their participation in the country’s economic woes, the president requested three weeks for the Finance Minister to finish IMF discussions.

After the Press Conference held on Tuesday, 25 October 2022 by some Members of the Majority Caucus in Parliament demanding the removal of Minister of Finance, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, and Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Charles Adu Boahen, the President engaged Members of the Caucus and requested that the issue be stood down until the conclusion of the round of negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the presentation of the IMF
The Majority Caucus agreed to the President’s request today, Wednesday, October 26, 2022.
