Kofi Arko Nokoe Secures Victory in Evalue-Ajomoro Gwira NDC Parliamentary Primaries
In a keenly contested race, Kofi Arko Nokoe has emerged victorious in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries for the Evalue-Ajomoro Gwira constituency in the Western Region. The sitting Member of Parliament (MP) successfully retained his position as the NDC parliamentary candidate for the upcoming 2024 elections, defeating his main opponent, Augustina Ama Atabuah Ennor Kwofie, the wife of the Evalue-Ajomoro Gwira constituency chairman, Ennor Kwofie.
The Evalue-Ajomoro Gwira NDC parliamentary election had been put on hold in May 2023 for unspecified reasons by the national party executives. However, the suspension was lifted in early October, allowing the election to take place on Friday, October 26, 2023.
The election was conducted under the supervision of Madam Abigail Aikens, the Presiding Officer of the Evalue-Ajomoro Gwira Electoral Commission (EC), and was secured by the Ghana Police Service. Despite initial concerns that the constituency might become a flashpoint, the day concluded without any incidents of violence.
The police maintained a strong presence at all three voting centers in Axim, Gwira Aiyinasi, and Kutukrom. In the end, Kofi Arko Nokoe secured victory with 545 votes, representing 53.17 percent of the valid votes cast, while Augustina Ama Tabuah Ennor Kwofie garnered 480 votes, equivalent to 46.82 percent. Three ballot papers were rejected.

Expressing his gratitude after the victory, Kofi Arko Nokoe thanked the NDC members, fellow MPs, and supporters for their unwavering support. He acknowledged that his triumph would not have been possible without their immeasurable assistance.
Nokoe also extended his appreciation to fellow MPs, including Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Dorcas Afo Toffey, Eric Afful, and NDC parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, for their support.
Looking ahead to the 2024 elections, Nokoe pledged to unite the NDC members for a victorious campaign. He expressed his respect for his contender, Augustina Ama Tabua Kofi, and called on party delegates to work together to retain the seat and thwart the ambitions of opposing parties.
Evalue-Ajomoro Gwira is a swing constituency in the Western Region, and the victory marks a significant moment as no sitting MP had been retained before. Kofi Arko Nokoe is committed to breaking this four-year cycle and securing victory in the December 7th, 2024 general elections.
Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle constituency, commended Nokoe on his victory and urged all NDC members to rally behind him to ensure the Evalue-Ajomoro Gwira parliamentary seat remains under the party’s banner in 2024.
