KsTU Denies Sacking 2,000 Students Over Delay In Payment Of Fees
Management of Kumasi Technical University(KsTU) has denied the sacking of some 2,000 students over the delay in the payment of school fees.
In a statement monitored by ghanaeducation.org , the university revealed that no student has been sacked from the university. They however added that those who have not registered for the Second Semester of the 2022/2023 Academic Year have been asked to defer their programmes.
The university address that it has extended the deadline for the registration severally but some students still failed to register.
The deadline used to be 29th May, 2023. It was later extended to 5th June, 2029. It was later extended again to 9th July and lastly to 28th July, 2023. For all these periods some students failed to register. The university revealed that only 648 students haven’t registered as opposed the 2,000 which was spread in the media.
“After these many concessions, there are still 648 students who have not registered, as opposed to the 2,000 that some media houses had stated.”
“It must be noted that, contrary to what was falsely claimed, the University’s Academic Board took this decision, and not the Chancellor, the Honorable Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor.”
The university said that it has a policy of withdrawing students who fail to register, but it decided to be lenient in this case and asked the affected students to defer their programmes instead.
Fresh 2023 BECE School Selection Update Out Plus Key Details
This comes after rumours spread on the internet that the Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) in the Ashanti Region has asked over two thousand students to defer following their inability to register for their academic course before the deadline of academic registration.
Reports are that, most of the students failed to register their respective courses because they could not pay their fees in full.
The decision by the university management has been met by fierce opposition by the affected students who feel the move by the university is unjust.
According to the students, the decision of the university is unfair because the affected students were made to pay a penalty fee to be allowed to register for the courses.
