The 2023 BECE was written earlier as compared to the previous years’. Usually the BECE is written before the WASSCE. However, due to GES plan to restore the old academic calendar, the exams was written earlier.
There were several incidents that happened in the five -day period of the exams. About 51 prisoners wrote the paper. These prisoners came from about 4 prison centers in the country. Aside this, about 15 teachers and other persons were arrested for examination malpractice.
Some tried to sneak into the examination hall to give tips to candidates. Other candidates were also caught for sending foreign materials into the examination hall.
