Leaked Call of Pregnant Dzodze-Penyi SHS Student Sparks Radio Probe Into Teacher Abuse

The Headmaster of Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School, Mr. Joshua Yao Vidzro, has come under official investigation following two separate allegations of sexual misconduct involving a final-year student and a 14-year-old first-year student.

A final-year female student, whose identity has been withheld, has been confirmed pregnant by St. Anthony Hospital in Dzodze. She alleges that the headmaster had sexual intercourse with her against her will. In a separate claim, a 14-year-old first-year student has also accused the headmaster of luring her to a hotel in Dzodze, where she says she was sexually assaulted.

The Senior House Headmistress of the school, Madam Eva Kueliho, confirmed the reports in an interview with Fafaa 100.3 FM, adding that the school has commenced internal investigations into the matter.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Vidzro denied all allegations, describing them as attempts by some individuals to tarnish his image and derail the developments he has been implementing at the school. He also stated that he is ready to undergo a DNA test if necessary to determine the paternity of the pregnancy.

According to him, although he maintains his innocence, he believes “when a woman claims a man has impregnated her, it is best to allow a DNA test,” adding that he is prepared to take responsibility while waiting for the test to confirm or dismiss the claim. He further swore by the ancestral stool of Togbi Satsike to assert his innocence.

Leaked Audio Conversation Emerges

Fafaa 100.3 FM has obtained an audio recording of a phone conversation between the pregnant student and the headmaster. In the recording, the student informs the headmaster about her pregnancy and asks what he intends to do about it. The headmaster responds that he is attending a funeral and would speak with her upon his return.
Below is the verified transcript:

Headmaster: Hello
Student: Sir, good morning.
Headmaster: Morning.
Student: Sir, it’s me… (name withheld).
Headmaster: Aaaheeee.
Student: Sir, I told you that I am pregnant. I have not told my parents, so I called to ask what you are going to do about it.
Headmaster: I have gone to a funeral; if I come, we will talk.
Student: Please, you said?
Headmaster: I have gone to a funeral. When I come back, we will talk.
Student: Sir, you’ll call me back on this number?

Investigations by Fafaa 100.3 FM confirm that both the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) and the Ghana Police Service have taken up the case.

In addition, the Ghana Education Service (GES) Regional Office in Ho has issued a directive instructing Mr. Joshua Yao Vidzro to step aside from his duties effective Monday, 8th December 2025, to allow for full-scale investigations to proceed without interference.
