LECTURETHON: Dr Appiah Michael Karikari Of UESD Begins On 10th March

Dr Michael Appiah Karikari of  University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD) at Somanya in the Eastern Region begins his longest lecturing marathon (LECTURETHON) of the Guinness World Record on 10th March 2024.

This lecturethon which is an unprecedented event is aimed at breaking the Guinness World Record for the most consecutive hours of lectures in a single venue by Dr. Michael Appiah Karikari.

The University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), situated in Somanya, Eastern Region, has embarked on a remarkable quest. The institution has declared its intention to organize a lecture-thon on March 10, 2024, with the goal of breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous lecture at a single venue. This challenge not only underscores the University’s dedication to academic excellence but also showcases academia’s potential to make a profound impact on both the local community and international level.

The Public Relations and Communication Committee (PRCC) of UESD foresees that the lecture-thon will facilitate academic collaboration, involve students, and attract extensive media coverage. This event symbolizes the University’s commitment to academic rigor and its capacity to inspire both students and academics. Moreover, the lecture aligns with the UESD HOPE Agenda, which encourages resilience and perseverance among students, thereby fostering a resilient academic community.

About Dr. Appiah Michael Karikari

Dr. Appiah Michael Karikari is a distinguished lecturer and one of the lead researchers at the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), a public university located in the eastern region of Ghana, where he has made significant contributions to the academic and research community. Hailing from Adansi Fomena in the Ashanti region of Ghana, Dr. Karikari has dedicated his career to advancing knowledge and understanding in his field, with a profound dedication to addressing critical issues in energy, water resources, and sustainable business practices, Dr. Karikari has established himself as a pivotal figure in the realm of energy economics, sustainable business and development.

As an a accomplished Scholar, Dr. Karikari obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D) Degree from the Universiti Malaysia, Terengganu, a Master of Science (MSc.) from Coventry University (United Kingdom), a Commonwealth Executive Master’s in Public Administration (CEMPA) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Post Graduate Diploma from GIMPA, a Bachelor of Art Degree from the University for Development Studies (UDS, Tamale), and SSCE certificate from Famous Amass (Fomena).

His scholarly achievements are highlighted by an impressive array of over 50 articles published in high-impact journals, including prestigious outlets such as Emerald, Elsevier, Sage, and Taylor & Francis. This extensive portfolio not only showcases his deep engagement with cutting-edge research but also his commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and contributing to the global discourse on sustainability. In addition to his academic pursuits, Appiah serves as a research consultant to Ghanaian SMEs, applying his expertise to drive innovation and sustainability in the local business landscape. His work with these enterprises underscores his commitment to translating research findings into actionable strategies that foster economic growth and environmental stewardship within Ghana.
