There are different kinds of government that are adapted by every country on the continent .Democracy is a system of government which enhances every individual to take part in decision making.
Democratic system of government is practiceb in most countries in the Continent.
Monarchical system is one of the oldest type of government in most African societies. Unlike the Democracy which elections are conducted periodically to choose leaders, the King or the Queen who rule in a Monarchical state reign till his or her dismal. After the death of the Monarch a member from the Royal family will succeed the late leader as a new monarch
The Biggest Monarchical government in the world is the British Monarch .
In this writing we are focusing on Some African countries that have adapted a system of government which is rule by a King or a Queen. Nortable of African countries that practice monarchical system of government include Morroco, Lesotho and Swaziland.
1.Morroco;The North African country and member of Arab community is one of the popular Kingdoms in Africa.
The King of Morroco is known as ‘Amir- al-Mu’minium’ which means ‘the faithful Commander ‘
Kingdom of Morroco have been ruled prominent Kings such as King Mohammed I (1666-1672),King Ismail I (1672-1727), Mohammed III (1721-1751), King Moulay Abdalla (1822-1859).
The current King of Morroco Kingdom is King Mohammed VI who has reign since 1999
2.Lesotho is landlork country found in the Southern part of Africa with a population of over 2.5 million.
Lesotho gained it independence from the Great Britain on 4th October,1966.
They are among the countries that practice monarchical system of government in Africa.
The current Monarch of Lesotho is King Letsie III , who succeeded his father King Moshoshoe in the year 1996.
They also have Prime Minster who performed Ceremonial functions in the state. Their first Prime Minster was Leabual Jonathan, he was overthrown in coup in the year 1986. Ninety percent of Lesotho population are Christians.
Another African country that is ruled by a Monarch is Swaziland found in the southern part of Africa with a population of 1.3 million.
3.Swaziland was colonized by the British crown in the early 19th century until they attained independence status in 1968.They have been practicing Monarchical government before the Colonial era.
The current King of Swaziland is King Msawati who succeeded his father, King Sobhizo, the longest serving monarch in the history of Swaziland.
Monarchical government is one of the oldest practice in Africa, and it has been in existence before the introduction of Democracy.
Leaders of Kingdoms in Africa are given the maximum respect. Every kingdom in Africa is monarchical in nature.
