Polls conducted in May 2017 and December 2021 by Geopoll revealed startling information about African nations’ gambling practices. Below are a list of African Nations with the highest gambling rate.
Kenya takes front lead in African gambling, with an astonishing 83.90% of Kenyans engaging in gambling. This number has continued to rise despite regulatory measures put in place.
Right behind Kenya in the rundown is Nigeria, with 78% of Nigerians endulging in gambling. Notably, Nigerians have the highest average monthly bet spending.
South Africa, which is known for its numerous betting chances, has 74% of respondents who gamble. Surprisingly, lotteries took out football as the most prominent betting choice (29.3% vs. 53%).
Visiting the East coast, comes Tanzania, where 63% of citizens indulge in gambling with football remaining the most popular choice. Uganda has also detected an increase in its betting culture, with 59% of the population partaking.
