The 2023 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) regional championship is almost Over and these are the 19 schools that will represent the Eastern Region for the nationals of the 2023 NSMQ.

1. Pope John Min. Sem/SHS
POJOSS (Pope John Minor Seminary/Senior High School) is an all-boys boarding school in Effiduase, Koforidua, Ghana’s Eastern Region. Bishop Joseph Oliver Bowers SVD founded it in 1958 as a Catholic seminary for boys. In 1975, the school was renamed Pope John Minor Seminary and Senior High School.
2. Koforidua Sec/Tech. School
Koforidua Sec/Tech. School, also known as Sec-Tech, is a senior high school in Koforidua, Ghana’s capital city in the Eastern Region. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah established it in 1967. It was Takoradi’s second secondary technical school, following Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS).
3. Nkwatia Presby SHS
Nkwatia Presby SHS is a well-known Ghanaian school with a strong academic tradition. Many notable alumni have graduated from the school, including former ministers and CEOs. Nkwatia Presby SHS is also a top sports school, having won national championships in football, basketball, and athletics.
4. Krobo Girls’ SHS
Krobo Girls Senior High School is a Presbyterian school located one kilometer west of Odumase Krobo on the Odumase-Asesewa road. Krobo Girls Middle School was founded in March 1927 by a group of female Scottish missionaries. In 1944, as part of the Government’s Accelerated Plan, a two-year Teacher Training College for women was added to the Girls School on an experimental basis.
5. Nifa SHS
Nifa Senior High (NISEC) is a community-based co-educational institution founded in 1971 as a result of the Ministry of Education’s (now Ghana Education Service’s) phase-out of the then Adukrom Teacher Training College.
6. Okuapeman School
On February 8, 1957, the Late Kwaku Opoku Acheampong (L.L.B) established Okuapeman Senior High. The school’s colors are white and brown, with white representing purity and brown representing MOTHER EARTH, who generously gives off her bounty.
7. Oti Boateng SHS
Oti Boateng Senior High School began in 1991 as Koforidua Senior High School. In 2011, it was renamed Oti Boateng Senior High School to honor Daasebre Oti Boateng, Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Area.
8. Oda SHS
Oda Senior High School is a public high school in Oda, Japan. Is a Category B school in Oda, Birim Central Municipal District, and one of the senior high schools in the Eastern Region.
9. Ghana SHS, Koforidua
Ghana Senior High School Koforidua is a Category A school and one of the senior high schools in the Eastern Region, located in the Koforidua Municipal District of New Juaben.
10. Mpraeso SHS
Mpraeso Senior High School is a Category B school in Mpraeso, Kwahu South Municipal District, and one of the senior high schools in the Eastern Region.
11. St. Peter’s SHS
St. Peter’s Senior High School, Nkwatia began its life of character and academic training on February 5, 1957, in the private residence of Opanyin Onwona Farkye, with thirty-six pioneer students and two teachers. Arts and Science courses were available.
Rev. Fr. Clement Hotze, an American, served as the school’s first Headmaster and taught Arts, while Mr. Agyare taught Science. By September 1960, St. Peter’s Senior High School had earned an enviable national reputation as a first-rate institution.
12. Asamankese SHS
Asamankese Senior High School is a Category B school in Asamankese, West Akim Municipal District, and one of the senior high schools in the Eastern Region.
13. Aburi Presby SHTS
Aburi Presby Senior High/Tech School is a Category C / Technical School in Aburi, Akwapim South District, and one of the senior high schools in the Eastern Region.
14. Aburi Girls’ SHS
The Aburi Girls Senior High School was founded in 1946, but its roots can be traced back to the work of the Basel Missionaries, who founded the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. The Mission saw education as an essential component of its mandate and evangelistic agenda.
15. Ofori Panin SHS
Ofori Panin Senior High School (OPASS) is a co-educational secondary school in Kukurantumi, Ghana’s Eastern Region. Ofori Panin School (formerly Tafo-Kukurantumi Senior High School, now abbreviated OPASS) is a co-educational boarding school in Tafo, Akyem, Ghana’s Eastern Region.
Kwame Nkrumah founded the school in 1961. Hon. Kofi Asante Ofori Attah, M.P. for Akim Abuakwa and Minister of Justice at the time, laid the foundation stone for the building on May 19, 1962. An “Opassian” is an Ofori Panin alumnus or alumna.
16. Mamfe Methodist Girls’ SHS
The school began as a private Mixed Secondary School known as Mamfe State College in 1988 before being handed over to the Methodist Church and renamed Methodist High School.
17. Abetifi Presby SHS
Abetifi Presby Senior High was the first private co-educational secondary school established on the Kwahu Ridge in 1956. It formed a partnership with the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in 1963. The school was taken over by the Ghanaian government in 1965.
18. Yilo Krobo SHS
Yilo Krobo Senior High/Com School is a Category C school in Yilo Krobo, Yilo Krobo District, and one of the senior high schools in the Eastern Region.
19. Abuakwa State College
Abuakwa State College School, located in Kibi, East Akim Municipal District, is a Category B school and one of the senior high schools in the Eastern Region.

What prevented the writer to write Nifa SHS in bold ink like the others? That’s seems very insulting and disrespect to the schools name.
