Live videos: Hon. Okudzato, Sam George, and Sammy Gyemfi Prevented From Entering National Cathedral Site. The three, along with other people present at the site, commissioned the National Cathedral amidst the basting of balloons.
NDC Members of Parliament, under the leadership of North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, marched to the National Cathedral construction site to issue a statement at 2 pm today.
The cathedral, initially slated for commissioning today as announced by former Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta in the 2021 budget statement, has sparked discontent among the minority MPs.
Dissatisfied with the project’s expenditure thus far, the MPs planned to conduct a press conference at the site to voice their concerns
However, the Security Service officials stationed at the side blocked Okudzeto Ablakwa, Sam George, and Sammy Gyamfi from accessing the National Cathedral site.
In 2018, the Nana Addo-led government indicated that it was going to commission the National Cathedral on March 6, 2024. However, following the controversies, alleged corruption, and mismanagement of funds for the project, the National Cathedral has remained at the foundation level.

The government promised to commission the National Cathedral today, March 6, but the project is still at the foundation level 6 years after construction started. The NDC MPs say they have done a symbolic commissioning of the project today at the site.
