Mahama's Vicotry: A Mandate for Constitutional Reform -Barker-Vormawo
Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a prominent legal practitioner and leader of the #FixTheCountry movement, has emphasized that the recent electoral victory of John Dramani Mahama represents a significant mandate for constitutional reform, probity, and accountability in Ghana
Osagyefo Oliver Barker-Vormawo, who became famous for his leadership of the #Fixthecountry demonstrations and activities, described President Elect John Dramiani Mahama’s victory as a mandate for constitutional reform and a historic opportunity for Ghana’s future.
His post on the victory posted on x said the 56% win by Mahama is no joke and should not be taken for granted.
According to him, it took Ghana 32 years to get to this victory, which must be used for constitutional reform, among others. ” it took 32 years, 8 regular election cycles, and 2 run-off elections for us to get here. We may likely never be here again.” He said.

Ghana stands at a historic crossroads. With John Mahama securing 56% of the popular vote, victory in 14 out of 16 regions, and overwhelming support from both the military (68%) and police (80%), the message from Ghanaians is clear: it is time for transformational leadership.

This mandate is unprecedented. With over two-thirds majority in Parliament and no reelection concerns as a one-term president, Mahama has a rare opportunity to prioritize Ghana’s long-term future. His experience as a former president uniquely positions him to hit the ground running from day one.

It took 32 years, 8 elections, and 2 runoffs to arrive at this moment. This is not just a victory for a party but a mandate for Constitutional Reform, probity, and accountability. The Ghanaian people have placed their full trust in the new government, and this trust cannot be wasted.

Now is the time to build a legacy that future generations will celebrate. Ghanaians have given all they can, and excuses will not be tolerated. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) holds the keys to Ghana’s progress—only the NDC can sabotage itself.

Let this be a turning point. Ghana cannot afford to miss this chance.

Over 2/3rds majority in Parliament. A president who is a one-term president and so has no reelection concerns. A person who has presidential experience; and so can hit the ground running from day 1.

Listen, it took 32 years, 8 regular election cycles, and 2 run-off elections, for us to get here. We may likely never be here again.

So hear me when I say, this is a mandate for Constitutional Reform! This is a mandate for probity and accountability, if I ever saw one. A mandate to build a legacy no one has ever been built to

If the trust of the Ghanaian voter is wasted, I am not sure we can ever ever again, get Ghana anywhere close to its vision.

We are prepared to give the new President a mandate from the streets too. Bigger than Jerry got in ‘ 79.

All the Ghanaian has to give, we have given!
