Mahama’s Vicotry: A Mandate for Constitutional Reform -Barker-Vormawo

Ghana stands at a historic crossroads. With John Mahama securing 56% of the popular vote, victory in 14 out of 16 regions, and overwhelming support from both the military (68%) and police (80%), the message from Ghanaians is clear: it is time for transformational leadership.

This mandate is unprecedented. With over two-thirds majority in Parliament and no reelection concerns as a one-term president, Mahama has a rare opportunity to prioritize Ghana’s long-term future. His experience as a former president uniquely positions him to hit the ground running from day one.

It took 32 years, 8 elections, and 2 runoffs to arrive at this moment. This is not just a victory for a party but a mandate for Constitutional Reform, probity, and accountability. The Ghanaian people have placed their full trust in the new government, and this trust cannot be wasted.

Now is the time to build a legacy that future generations will celebrate. Ghanaians have given all they can, and excuses will not be tolerated. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) holds the keys to Ghana’s progress—only the NDC can sabotage itself.
