Man who saved money to join girlfriend abroad finds out after traveling that she’s dating someone else

A man’s effort to surprise his girlfriend abroad turned into heartbreak after finding out that she was already in a new relationship with someone else.

According to a tweet shared by a friend of the man, who goes by the Twitter handle @Zak_Thestepper, the man saved up money to travel to his girlfriend’s university abroad without informing her.

With the help of his friends, he was able to secure travel documents and made the trip to the country where his girlfriend is studying.

However, upon meeting with her, she informed him that she was already seeing someone else. The man was devastated, as he had booked a return ticket that he could only use in the next five days, leaving him with a few days to spend abroad in sadness.

@Zak_Thestepper tweeted that the heartbroken man returned home last week and has been receiving support and consolation from his friends.

The story is a cautionary tale of the risks of making grand gestures without being certain of the other person’s feelings. It also highlights the importance of communication in relationships, as surprises and assumptions can sometimes lead to disappointment and heartbreak.

The tweet has since gone viral, with many sympathizing with the man’s plight and advising others to be cautious when making such romantic gestures.

He wrote; “My guys GF was studying abroad. Oga saved for months just to be able to buy a plane-ticket to go see her with help also from we his guys as well. He arrived and she almost immediately told him that she has someone else.

Ticket of course was non-refundable (cheapest) so he had to spend 5 days completely heartbroken in a city he didn’t know filled with people whose language he didn’t speak and without the means to go home. F***ing the worst week of his entire life!

He came back to 9ja last week & haven’t been same tbh. Stays indoors all the time. We don console am tire but omoo things ain’t getting better & us en guys sef don tire sef. Y’all guys in a relationship, please be safe 🙏🏾”
