Mason jailed 12 years for defiling 14-year-old

A 23-year-old mason has been jailed for 12 years by a gender-based violence court for defiling a 14-year-old schoolgirl.

The man whose name has been given as Kouku pleaded not guilty during his trial but was handed the verdict of the court in the matter before it.

The court, after completing the trial presided over by Dora Eshun, found Kouku guilty of defiling the minor.

Chief Inspector Opoku Aniagyei, who led the prosecution, presented evidence of how the convicted man managed to commit the crime.

According to the prosecutor, Kouku met the victim while she was walking home with her luggage and forcibly had unprotected s3x with her in the complainant’s corridor.

Per the facts of the case, at about 1400 hours on July 31, 2024, the victim arrived in Accra from her mother’s place at Kasoa in the Central Region to spend holidays with the complainant.
