Christian Atsu Twasam was a Ghanaian football player known for his impressive speed and skills as a winger. He had played for several European leagues throughout his career and was a member of the Ghana national team, the Black Stars.
However, on February 6th, 2023, Atsu went missing during an earthquake that struck Turkey. He was in his apartment in Hatayspor at the time, and the building collapsed, leaving him trapped under the rubble.
Despite hopes and prayers that he would be found alive, he remained missing for almost two weeks.
Sadly, on February 18th, 2023, Atsu’s agent confirmed that he had been found, but he had not survived the disaster. The news was a devastating blow to his family, friends, fans, and the football community.
At the time of his death, Atsu was married to Marie Claire Rupio. The two youngest, aged 6 and 8, were following in their father’s footsteps and playing in an academy.
