No Pension benefits if you fail to merge SSNIT Card with Ghana Card

No pension benefits for SSNIT Contributors who fail to merge their SSNIT Card with Ghana Card before December 31st deadline. According to the Director-General of SSNIT, such contributors will legally forfeit their pension benefits should they fail to be proactive.

The merging of the two cards commenced on June 28th and will continue until 31st December 2021.

There many contributors of SSNIT who

  1. Do not have the Ghana card
  2. Do not have the SSNIT card
  3. Do not have both Ghana card and the SSNIT card or one or both are missing.

Any of the three scenarios would make it impossible for contributors to merge both cards and safeguard their pension benefits after the closing date.

All persons with such problems can get help by visiting the offices of the institutions with valid documents to get registered, get their cards replaced among others so as to merge the cards.

SSNIT began integrating its ID platform with that of the National Identification Authority in compliance with a directive from the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA).

Director-General of SSNIT, Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang, explains “the Trust has created avenues to simplify the process for customers and new entrants adding the integration will help fast track adjudication processes, enabling prompt settlement of claims”.

All current and new contributors to SSNIT must ensure that they have both cards to effect the consolidation of both cards. Effective 1st January 2021, all SSNIT contributors will no longer use their scheme numbers but will transact all business with SSNIT with their Ghana Card.

If you have the two cards or numbers, follow the simple steps to follow to merge your SSNIT ID with your Ghana Card.
