Move To Germany Via The ‘Opportunity Card’ – More Details
The German government recently coined the term “Chancenkarte,” which translates to “opportunity card.” This is a fantastic initiative by the German government to bring in skilled labor to meet Germany’s ever-increasing demand for skilled labor.
According to a recent survey, Germany is short about 400,000 skilled laborers each year. The opportunity card could be a savior, bridging the gap between demand and supply of skilled labor in Germany.
Opportunity Card – What Is It?
An opportunity card is a new, regulated method of attracting skilled workers from outside the EU to Germany.
The German government announced plans to launch a new method of attracting international talent to Germany in September 2022, coining the term Opportunity card (Chancenkarte).
Opportunity Card – When Can You Start Applying?
The opportunity card is a brand-new type of visa that has yet to go into effect. This should be available to the public by late 2023. According to recent reports, the opportunity card and other new immigration laws will go into effect in March 2024.
Who Is Eligible To Apply?
To be eligible for the opportunity card in Germany, you must meet three of the four conditions listed below:
Age: You should be under the age of 35.
Qualifications: A university degree or professional qualification is required. You should have at least three years of work experience.
Language: A knowledge of German or previous residency in Germany is required. To be eligible for the opportunity card, at least three of the four conditions must be met.
The more conditions you meet, the better your chances. Furthermore, because this new type of visa has yet to be implemented, there is no complete understanding of the exact eligibility criteria and how the points will be calculated.
What Are The Benefits Of The Opportunity Card?
The opportunity card will undoubtedly aid Germany’s efforts to attract skilled foreign labor.
Companies in Germany typically prefer candidates who already reside in Germany or the European Union.
With the implementation of the opportunity card, talented professionals who want to work in Germany can move there even if they do not have a job offer.
