As part of efforts to help MTN customers to link their Ghana Card and their SIM numbers, MTN is offering Free Data and Talk Time for Customers linking their Ghana Card and SIM. The Telecommunication giant has sent a message to customers who are yet to link their details to the SIM as a way to whip up interest, so it does not lose its customers.
Per the current extension of dates, the government has indicated through the Ministry of Communication and Digitalization, the 31st July 2022 deadline will not be extended.
The message from MTN to its customers read…”Y’ello Valued customer, Kindly visit any MTN Service Centre now to complete your biometric registration and receive 1GB data or 60 mins airtime for FREE. This offer is valid till 31st July 2022. Spread the good news to your loved ones who have not registered their SIM Cards. Ts & Cs apply”
This means customers can choose between 1GB of data or 60 mins airtime once they complete the linking of their Ghana Card and their SIM.
If you are yet to link the Ghana card to your mobile phone number, ensure to request for your data or air time.
The government of Ghana extended the SIM registration until July 31st, 2022. This extension became necessary after several calls by stakeholders on the government. The Ministry of Communication and digitalization, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful signed the press release which announced the extension.
She has however disclosed in recent information to the public that the government will not extend the deadline again.
Prior to the Extension of the Deadline for SIM Card Registration, the linking of the Ghana Card number to the SIM number was expected to end on 31st March 2022 but for the act that some 7.5 million users of SIMs were yet to complete the re-registration of SIM cards, the extension became necessary.
To facilitate a fast process for registering SIM users, are efforts being initiated such as the introduction of SIM registration apps and others to facilitate the process.
