Spelling Bee 2021: Naa Koshie Manyo-Plange of The Roman Ridge School Wins
Naa Koshie Manyo-Plange of The Roman Ridge School has won the 2021 National Spelling Bee. She won the finals after an intense 15 rounds of spelling.
The Young Ghanaian speller number 15 beat her competitors in the 15th round to emerge the winner.
The winning word that crowned Naa Koshie Manyo-Plange’s effort was “A-M-A-X-O-P-H-O-B-I-A.”
She took her chance at the word and nailed it to send her fans into endless ecstasy.
Amaxophobia, is an abnormal or persistent fear of being in or riding in, a vehicle.
Amaxophobic sufferers riding in a vehicle will typically fear the accident and its consequences, especially injury or death.
However, when she came face to face with the word, the fear disappeared and with her mind focused and filled confidence to its brim, she made history on the day.
The 2021 National Spelling Bee was keenly contested. She takes home GHS 10,000 cash prize, an engraved trophy, and the opportunity to represent Ghana at the 94th Scripps National Spelling Bee in the US.
