The Ministry of Education has redesigned the school placement portal ahead of the 2025 BECE results and placements release. The new portal looks more professional and aesthetically beautiful and is also user-friendly compared to the previous one. The Red, Yellow and Green of the Ghana Flag have been creatively used to design the home page of the portal, with Green demoniating the colours.
The Ministry of Education (MoE) move to redesign the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) used by students to check their second-cycle school (SHS/SHTS/TVET) placement after writing the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is a step in the right direction.
The site, for the first time in 8 years, is still active and accessible ahead of the release of BECE results and school placements for 2025, compared to the previous years when the site went offline a few weeks after school placements had been closed.

Is the 2025 School Placement Portal Loading Fast?
To test how fast and well optimized the site is, we looked carefully at the data from Google site speed at https://pagespeed.web.dev/
On both Desktop and Mobile, the site is optimised for SEO thus 92 out of 100 for both. The site design follows best practices and scored 100% for both Desktop and Mobile checks however, the site has issues with performance, thus how fast it will load for users. It has a mid-range score of 73 for Desktop and 59 for Mobile. Both are not the best.
Desktop Score of 73 for instance, is acceptable But Not Exceptional.
The Mobile Score of 59 is a critical warning sign. Given that Google now operates on a mobile-first indexing model, your mobile site’s performance has a direct and significant impact on your overall search engine ranking. Such scores for Mobile and Desktop will lead to:
Poor User Experience: For the majority of internet users accessing your site on a smartphone, the experience is likely subpar. This can manifest as slow loading times, unresponsive buttons, and shifting layouts, leading to high bounce rates.
Negative SEO Impact: Google primarily uses the mobile version of your site to rank it in search results. A score of 59-73 will likely hinder the site’s ability to rank well, as it signals a poor user experience to the search engine.
Lower Conversion Rates: Mobile users are notoriously impatient. A slow mobile site is a direct barrier to conversions, whether that means making a purchase, filling out a form, or signing up for a newsletter.
