Those planning to relocate to the UK to reside, attend school, or do business must be ready to pay the new VISA fees.
Note that, the VISA fees have been increased by not less than 20%. The new VISA Fee can be computed as follows (Old Fee x 1.2). According to data available to this portal, a 3-year VISA to the UK will now cost at least 1,482 pounds. Student VISA fees have also gone by 15%.

It is projected that £1 billion will be generated in revenue from the increase and that the funds will be directed towards the payment of higher incomes for teachers, doctors, junior doctors, and police officers. Financial support will also be provided to police forces with some of the revenue to help reduce migration costs.
NEW UK VISA PRICES
3-year VISA to the UK = 1,482 pounds
Student VISA on the other hand is now 417 pounds instead of the previous 363 Pounds
It is important that travellers get to know that the UK has also increased the fee for other VISA types. This was confirmed by UK Treasury’s chief secretary, John Glenn. Individuals who will be applying for a Priority visa would also see a jump in the VISA fees just as those seeking a certificate of sponsorship among others.
Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) will not cost 1,035 pounds but an amount of f 776 Pounds will be paid by students and minors for the same service. The UK government intends to equalize expenses for students and other applicants.
It will be prudent that those planning to acquire UK VISAs plan ahead of time to be able to meet the financial demands.
The UK Home Office has reinstated its priority service for family visas, which offers faster decision-making and shorter wait times. The service is available for spouses and children who are applying to live with family members in the UK.
The priority service typically takes less than 30 working days (six weeks) to process a visa application. However, it is important to note that not all applications are eligible for the priority service. If an application is complex or requires additional checks, it may not be possible to give a decision within 30 working days.
In addition to the priority service, the Home Office has also reduced waiting times for standard family visa applications. Applications that are not eligible for the priority service are now processed within 60 working days (12 weeks).
The reinstatement of the priority service and the reduction in waiting times are welcome news for families who have been waiting to reunite with loved ones in the UK. The Home Office has acknowledged the challenges that families have faced during the pandemic and has taken steps to make the visa application process more efficient.
Which Visas are Included?
The new priority service and waiting times will apply to the following visas;
- Partner, spouse, civil partner, and unmarried partner
- Fiancée or proposed civil partner
- Child and adult-dependent relative
Application Fees
5-day priority service will cost 573 pounds for settlement
It will cost 250 pounds for those seeking non-settlement.
This however excludes the standard VISA fee.
Working day super priority service costs 956 pounds.
- The cost of applying for a visa can add up quickly, especially for families. In addition to the standard application fee, family members who apply at the same time as the primary applicant must pay an additional £573. This is because the visa application process is considered to be one application, and each family member is considered to be a dependant of the primary applicant.
- If you need your visa decision quickly, you can opt for expedited processing. This will cost an additional £250 for a decision within five working days, or £956 for a decision by the end of the next working day. However, it’s important to note that the expedited processing fee is non-refundable, even if your visa application is denied or the decision takes longer than expected.
- Family members who apply together should expect to hear back at the same time. This is because all family members are considered to be part of the same application. However, if one family member wants to receive a decision sooner, they must all apply for expedited processing.
