Kindergarten Pupils lie on belly to study at Gumo D/A Primary School

Kindergarten pupils lie on their bellies to study at Gumo D/A Primary School, a situation that is heartbreaking and demoralizing for a country celebrating 64 years of nationhood.

The same school has its upper-lower primary learner in the same situation as the school in the Kumbungu District of the Northern region.

Schools without furniture, schools without classrooms, and schools without basic modern school buildings are a common phenomenon in many parts of Ghana.

Because they have no furniture and are compelled to lie on their belly to study, they have to frequently wash their uniforms every week. Some said they wash their uniforms not less than two times, and this also makes their uniforms fade faster.

“We wash our uniforms two times in a work.” They said.

To lie on the belly to study is very uncomfortable. Teachers and learners in Gumo D/A Primary School have called on the government and NGOs to respond to their distress call. The Ghana Education Service must take action to put smiles on the faces of these learners.

Hon. Dr. Adam Hamza, the Member of Parliament for the area, has handed a 3-unit classroom block to the school and has taken note of the situation with the promise of doing something about the current situation.

Pupils lie on belly to study in Gumo D/A Primary School and in other schools in Ghana, lets break the chain.
