A sad story of a Nigerian woman who commits suicide over hardship after leaving 3 children at the police station.
Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah, the wife of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has offered to support the three children whose mother tragically passed away by running into a moving vehicle.
The Enugu First Lady pledged to support their daily necessities and education.
During an unexpected visit to Ogui Police Station in Enugu, she revealed that the scholarship would be provided through her Custos Care Foundation for the children being held there.
It was reported that a woman, whose identity remains unknown, was allegedly struggling with depression due to the high cost of living.
A tragic incident occurred where she abandoned her children at the police station, removed her clothes, and ran into a moving vehicle, resulting in her untimely death. This situation has left young children without a maternal figure.
When questioned about their father, the oldest child mentioned that their father was missing. She was unable to provide any additional details about their family, town, or residential address.
The First Lady revealed her support for children’s education from nursery school all the way to university. She promptly arranged for the children to be moved from Ogui Police Station to a residence where they would be looked after by the state government.
Speaking to the press, Mrs Mbah urged individuals struggling with depression to seek assistance and attend counselling sessions to prevent making irreversible choices.
She also emphasised the importance of the Commissioner for the Ministry of Children, Gender and Social Development, Mrs Ngozi Enih, to increase awareness and provide counselling to individuals, particularly those experiencing depression, to support them in overcoming their challenges.
Many Nigerians are facing significant challenges due to the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu, leading to a sharp increase in inflation and the cost of goods and services.
