The Government of Ghana, through the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) under the Ministry of Education, has officially opened the application portal for the No Fees Stress Refund for the 2025/2026 academic year.
This initiative is a strategic effort to enhance access to higher education by reimbursing academic fees for first-year students enrolled in Public Tertiary Institutions. If you have paid your admission or tuition fees for the 2025/26 session, you are eligible to have those costs repaid directly by the government.
“Dear Fresh Students, The No Fees Stress and Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) Application Portal is now open for applications for the 2025/2026 Academic Year,” the SLTF announced.
What is the No Fees Stress Refund?
This policy is designed to purposely reimburse specific academic fee amounts per program. Reimbursable charges include costs for academic-related services as charged by your institution. By relieving the immediate financial pressure on families, the government aims to ensure no student is left behind due to initial cost barriers.
Eligibility: Who Can Apply?
To qualify for the refund, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Freshman Status: You must be a first-year student at an accredited public tertiary institution.
- Accredited Program: You must be enrolled in a course recognized by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
- Prior Payment: The policy applies to students who have already paid their tuition/admission fees as required by their respective universities.
Requirements for Application
Before visiting the portal, ensure you have the following digital copies or details ready:
- Ghana Card: Your primary identification.
- Admission Letter: Proof of your enrollment for the 2025/26 year.
- Student ID: Your official institutional identification number.
How to Apply for the No Fees Stress Refund
Follow these steps to secure your reimbursement:
- Visit the Portal: Go to the official SLTF website at www.sltf.gov.gh.
- Account Creation: During the registration process, a Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) account will be automatically generated for you.
- Verification: Cross-check all provided details. Errors in your Student ID or Ghana Card number can lead to a rejected application.
- Submission: Submit your form and await the government to pay the refund directly into your newly generated GCB account.
⚠️ Important Security Warning
The public is strongly advised that the No Fees Stress Refund application is FREE.
- Do not pay any individual or group to facilitate your refund.
- The government will only pay reimbursements into students’ official GCB accounts.
- Ensure all details are complete and correct before final submission to avoid delays.
