Information reaching Ghana Education News is that payment of September salaries of some government sector workers has been suspended by the Controller And Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) until further notice.
The decision was influenced by the challenge the CAGD had in effectively and accurately matching employees’ bank accounts and related details with the data available on the Government of Ghana payroll.
Again, other government employees who will have their September salaries delayed have invalid bank account numbers in the database of the CAGD. Thus, their bank accounts were detected to be inaccurate.
The CAGD in a public statement on the worrying development said the suspension of the payment of salaries for public sector workers for the month of September was part of its efforts towards achieving quality assurance and other validation processes requirements.
It has, however, advised those whose bank names are mismatched to lodge an official complaint with the CAGD.
Such issues are to be sent to the payroll coordination unit of CAGD which is situated at block A room 32.
Affected public sector employees are to come along with relevant credible documents under a cover from the MDA confirming to come that they are at post.
