NPP Communications Officer Resigns

Dennis Kwakwa, Ashanti regional communication officer for the New Patriotic Party(NPP), has resigned from his position. According to report, he resigned in order to contest in the Mampong NPP parliamentary primaries.
Dennis Kwakwa sent his resignation letter to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Boasiako Antwi, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi. In the said letter, Mr. Kwakwa expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the support he received from party, members and delegates when he was the communications directors. He added that he was accorded by the leadership of the party during his time as the party’s communication officer.
“I shall forever be grateful to you and the entire Regional Executive body for the opportunity the team accorded me to contribute to the service of our great party,” he noted.
It could be recalled that just recently, the Greater Accra Regional Youth Organiser of the party, Moses Abor also resigned for the same reasons. According to him, the decision to step down as the party’s communication officer comes after a critical consideration of the requirements he has to fulfill in order to pursue his political ambition.

“Though I love and cherish working in such a role, it is a requirement I have to fulfill in order to pursue other political goals in my political career,” he added.
This move is likely to have political ramifications within the NPP and the Ashanti Region at large. It remains to be seen how this resignation and new candidacy will affect the party’s fortunes in the region, and whether Mr Kwakwa will be successful in his bid to become an MP by upstaging the incumbent, Kwaku Ampratwum Sarpong, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister
