NPP Parliamentary Primaries were Lost by MoE Officials
Even though they helped with education, Gifty Twum-Ampofo, the Deputy Minister for Education, and Kwasi Kwarteng, the Deputy Minister for Education, lost the MP elections in their areas.
A report in the local news that Gifty Twum Ampofo, who is the current MP for Abuakwa North, lost to Nana Ampaw Addo-Frempong by 202 votes.
Kwasi Kwarteng, the Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Education (MoE), lost to Honourable Andy Appiah-Kubi, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North constituency.
In related news, the Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and his deputy, John Ntim Fordjour, were chosen as New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidates by people in their areas.
In a post on social media, Dr Yaw Adutwum said that over 1000 people agreed to vote for him at a special meeting of delegates. He was the only candidate after everyone else had nominated him.
In addition to the Bosomtwe MP, the District Director of the Electoral Commission, Lawyer Adom Appiah was also at the exercise.
I thanked the people who came to the meeting for trusting me again and said I will always do my best to represent their interests.
I told them to work hard in their communities so that we can win the 2024 general elections together and keep His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s good work going.
Ntim Fordjour, who is the Deputy Education Minister, was approved by more than 650 people to run for the NPP at a special conference after passing a screening process.
During the conference, Reverend John Ntim, who works for the Education Ministry and is also a Member of Parliament for Assin South, thanked the delegates for believing in him again.
He said he would work hard to represent their interests and asked the delegates to get involved in community-level efforts to win the 2024 general elections for the NPP. This would keep President Akufo-Addo in power.
