NPP Tolon Parliamentary hopeful outlines plans: Chief Akilu Sayibu, the Managing Director of Voiceless Media, has expressed his aspiration to contest the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary in the Tolon Constituency, Northern Region, out of his profound love for the constituents. He passionately voiced his concern over the sluggish pace of development in the constituency, emphasizing that, if granted the opportunity, he is determined to initiate a series of projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life for the residents and hastening development.
Chief Akilu shared his vision during a media interaction at his residence in Tolon. Although he previously served as the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Tamale North in 2012, Chief Akilu has now relocated to the Tolon Constituency in response to the overwhelming calls from its people.
In outlining his vision, the parliamentary hopeful highlighted several key priorities he intends to pursue if elected as the Member of Parliament (MP). At the forefront of his agenda is addressing the issue of indiscipline within the Tolon Senior High School (SHS).
He plans to achieve this by constructing a protective fence around the school’s campus and providing a pickup vehicle for the headmaster to enhance transportation and supervisory services. Additionally, Chief Akilu pledged to supply an ambulance and another pickup vehicle to the Tolon District Hospital, with the aim of facilitating efficient healthcare delivery and extending outreach services to the constituency’s communities.
Chief Akilu emphasized his commitment to ensuring that the constituents have access to clean and safe drinking water, stating that he is prepared to use a portion of his MP’s salary to kick-start these long-overdue projects.
He took a moment to commend several ministries, including Roads, Energy, Communications, and Education, for their ongoing interventions in the constituency. While acknowledging these positive efforts, Chief Akilu appealed for more opportunities and initiatives on behalf of the constituents of Tolon.
Notably, Chief Akilu applauded the NPP government for creating various job opportunities for the youth. His dedication to community development and improvement is evident, as he aims to serve the Tolon Constituency and its people in a more profound capacity.
The NPP’s nomination process is set to commence on December 20, 2023, and close on January 4, 2024, for constituencies with sitting MPs. The parliamentary election within the party is scheduled for February 24, 2024. Chief Akilu Sayibu’s vision and dedication reflect the party’s ongoing commitment to nurturing effective leadership and positive change within its ranks.
