During a live radio interview on Kastle FM in Cape Coast, MP for Assin Central and presidential aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong, unveiled the reason behind Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin ‘s failure to secure a ministerial appointment. Agyapong explained that Afenyo-Markin was initially considered for a ministerial role, but the President rejected his appointment due to the agriculture bank issue. Consequently, the position was awarded to Mrs. Mavis Hawa Koomson, who now serves as the Minister for Fisheries.
“We were fighting for Alex Markin to get the ministerial position. But there was an issue with him involving the agric bank. The president didn’t even want to hear his name.

So the most senior after Alex Markin was Hawa Koomson, and we got the position for her,” Agyapong revealed.
Agyapong went on to highlight his influential role in supporting Hawa Koomson’s political career, emphasizing that without his backing, she wouldn’t have been able to attain any significant political position. He took credit for creating special initiatives for her and noted that she depended on his influence to make a mark in politics.
